Silent Night

We praise you, Jesus,

because when you chose to come to us,

it was not with fanfare and bright lights,

with loud pronouncements and noisy celebrations;

Nor with dramatic entrances into our world’s clashes

of ideologies and armies.

 

We praise you, Jesus,

because when you chose to come to us,

it was in the still breath-catching moment,

the quiet, pregnant weight,

of a silent, subversive, night.
