S acredise provides theologically deep and experientially inspiring worship resources and training for progressive churches.
HOW WE WORSHIP DEFINES HOW WE LIVE.
That’s why our rituals, hymnody, prayers, and spiritual practices are so crucially important. When we gather in community for worship we long to be inspired, taught, challenged, convicted, consoled, uplifted, and empowered. We seek wisdom to navigate the struggles of our daily lives. But we also seek the insights and skills that can make us participants in bringing peace, justice, and love into our world in small but significant ways.
Sacredise.com was created to help churches and faith communities across the world meet these universal human needs in ways that are both theologically deep and passionately inspiring. The prayers, liturgies, sermon starters, music, books, and courses that are offered here are spiritually deep, theologically progressive, and experientially inspiring.

Sacredise was founded in 2004 by John van de Laar. John is a liturgist with 40 years of experience in a wide variety of church, community, and musical settings. As a minister of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa John was worship director for three National Conferences and was the chief liturgist for the dedication of the new Seth Mokitimi Methodist Seminary in 2010.
Since leaving the Methodist ministry in October 2019 John has devoted his time to helping churches navigate the new and growing reality of online worship and community while also founding and coordinating EvoFaith.com—a new evolution of online spiritual community which was launched on Advent Sunday 2019.
John holds a Masters degree in the Theology of Worship Music and is the author of The Hour That Changes Everything, Food for the Road, and Learning to Belong (all available on this website and through Amazon.com). Songs that John has written have been used in churches around the world, and his articles have appeared in many magazines and online publications.
If you would like to book John to help your community deepen its experience of worship, or to develop your teams musically and liturgically for offline and/or online worship send an email to [email protected].
