ALL OF US IN WONDERLAND

Going down the rabbit hole into God’s reign of love

Liturgical and Personal Spiritual Practice Guides for a six-week Pentecost season

After all we’ve been through in the last two and half years, most of us are ready for a change. We all know now that what was normal in our global society wasn’t working for anyone but a tiny, privileged few. We need to find another way of being. But for most of us, ‘immersed in the way things are,’ it’s very difficult to imagine what a different life and a different world could look like. It might seem like the dream of a better, more compassionate and connected world is nothing more than a wonderland of fantasy.

But what if that wonderland is real? What if we really could dive down a metaphorical rabbit hole and discover a whole new wonderland world for all of us? Well, I believe that this is, essentially, what Jesus’ message of God’s reign of love was all about. And I believe that the experience of the Spirit that happened on the Day of Pentecost two thousands years ago was the rabbit hole that we need to enter God’s new world.

And that is why I am so excited to share this new Liturgical Guide for a six-week Pentecost Season: ALL OF US IN WONDERLAND—Going down the rabbit hole into God’s reign of love.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK No matter how committed we are to Jesus' mission, we will all face times of great challenge and struggle when we are tempted to give up, or at least reduce our faithfulness in order to reduce the cost. But, when we do this, we lose the very thing that gives us the strength to continue, and that brings us life in the midst of our struggles - our faith. In a world where following Jesus is often framed as a way to great personal benefit, [...]

23 October 2022 Somehow it's not easy to admit our brokenness or its impact on others. It takes humility to acknowledge how we need to change to bring life and healing to our world and relationships. Unfortunately, though, arrogance is far easier and far more common in our world. Even in the quest for justice, it is all too easy to become self-righteous and judgemental of those we must challenge or oppose. But, if justice is to become a reality in our world, and if people are to see [...]
