Experience Your Own Resurrection

Liturgical and Personal Spiritual Practice Guides for Easter

Easter Sunday 2022 marks the start of our third Easter season of the pandemic. Many of us were already expressing a deep longing to return to normal two years ago when Easter seemed almost meaningless in the locked-down world. Now vaccines and less deadly variants offer us the first glimpses of hope that normal may not be that far away. This means that the time has come to ask what normal will look like in the pandemic-altered world.

For most of us, the question of what our future normal will look like is deeply personal. We want to know how to experience our own resurrection now. Many of us have lost much of the life we knew before COVID entered our world. In some ways, that has been a liberation. In others, the grief still weighs us down. So, if we are to talk about resurrection and life, it has to be practical, experiential, and real. It has to lead us into a renewed energy, creativity, and vibrancy. And it has to show us the way back to Life (with a capital ‘L’) not just for now, but for the future.

And that is why I am proud and excited to offer you this Easter guide: BACK TO LIFE—Experience Your Own Resurrection.

Week of 22 – 28 May 2022

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK What does it mean for you to be at home in God's Presence? How does your faith enable you to enjoy God's welcoming hospitality? And how does it teach you to extend that hospitality to others in Christ's name? These are the questions that are raised by this week's readings. Among the Scriptures that are set for this Sunday are two passages from the Gospel of John. In one, Jesus teaches the disciples that, when he leaves them, this will make it possible for them [...]

Trinity Sunday C

By |May 16th, 2022|Categories: Lectionary Resources, Year C|

12 June 2022 This week, instead of celebrating a biblical event or a characteristic of God, the lectionary leads us to celebrate a doctrine - the Trinity. In the face of this "theological" theme, it can be tempting to avoid the lectionary altogether, but, if we have the courage to embrace it,  the doctrine of the Trinity can be an exciting and creative playground in which to worship. May you be inspired as you prepare, and transformed as you worship this week! READINGS: Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31: Wisdom sings of [...]
